Penguins…

I slightly modified my owl pattern and ended up with a penguin.IMG_0523

The penguins are made from the same pattern but I used different threads and hooks to alter their sizes.

  • small: size 8 crochet cotton and 0.75mm hook
  • big: size 3 crochet cotton and 1.75mm hook

start with black, work in rounds, close off each round with ss:

1. 6sc into magic ring, join with ss (6)

2. ch1, 2sc in each st around, join with ss (12)

3. ch1, *inc, sc* repeat around, join with ss  (18)

4. ch1, *sc, sc, inc* repeat around, join with ss  (24)

5. ch2, *hdc, 2hdc* repeat around, join with ss (36)

6. ch1, skip 1st stitch, sc in next, hdc in each of next 2sts, 2hdc in next 2sts, hdc in each of next 2sts, sc, ss in next and fasten off

wings: rejoin yarn… (please ,check pictures below for guidance or  quick video tutorial)

  • right: ch4, ss in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next ch, 2hdc in last
  • left: ch5, 2sctog, 2hdctog

belly: with white, make a magic ring, work in rounds

1. 6sc into magic ring, join with ss (6)

2. ch1, 2sc in each st around, join with ss (12)

3. ch1, *sc, inc* repeat around, join with ss (18)

4. ch1, *sc, inc, sc* repeat around, join with ss (24)

fasten off, leaving a tail for sewing

eye (x2): 7sc into magic ring
