Christmas puddings…

You might wish to make some too…

  •  small pudding: I used 0.75mm hook and DMC Petra crochet cotton size 8
  • big pudding: I used 3mm hook and Hayfield Bonus DK acrylic yarn

(US crochet terms) ch=chain, ss=slip stitch, st=stitch, sc=single crochet, 2sc=inc=increase, dec=decrease

 

Base: in brown, make a magic ring, work in continuous spiral

  1. 6sc into magic ring (6)
  2. 2sc in each st around (12)
  3. *sc, inc* repeat around (18)
  4. *sc, inc, sc* repeat around (24)
  5. sc in each st around (24)

6.-8. repeat round 5.

  1. *dec, sc, sc* repeat around (18)

Start stuffing

  1. *sc, dec* repeat around (12)
  2. dec around (6)

Fasten off, stuff more if needed

 

Icing: in white, make a magic ring, work in rounds, close off each round with ss

  1. 6sc into magic ring (6)
  2. 2sc in each st around (12)
  3. *sc, inc* repeat around (18)
  4. *sc, inc, sc* repeat around (24)
  5. sc and ch3, ss in second from hook, ss in next ch, sc, sc, sc and ch5, ss in second from hook and ss in each of next 3, sc, sc, sc and ch3, ss in second from hook and ss in next ch, sc, sc, sc and ch5, ss in second from hook and ss in each of next 3, sc, sc, sc and ch4, ss in second from hook and ss in each of next 2, sc, sc, sc and ch3, ss in second from hook and ss in next ch, sc, sc, sc and ch5, ss in second from hook and ss in each of next 3, sc, sc, sc and ch4, ss in second from hook and ss in each of next 2.

Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing

 

Leaves: in green

ch4, ss in second ch from hook and ss in next 2, ch4, ss in second from hook and in next 2, ch3, ss in second from hook and in next 2, ch1.

I hope, you will not have difficulty to stitch all the pieces together to finish off the pudding, remember to embroider red berries.

    Thank you ? so much for this pattern – I would love to make these little things in crochet but not many share their patterns which is quite understandable if they sell them. I can’t wait to try this Christmas pudding. Being a Brit now living in Canada I have to make my own (I do cheat a bit a freeze one so this year don’t have to do it LOL).
